Hi,
Judging this contest was tougher than we thought it was going to be. There were so many clever and vile and downright funny submissions. Getting this down to just two winners doesn't mean your writing wasn't good enough -- it really just means this community is full of brilliant, creative people and that's one of the reasons Mörk Borg is cool AF. Johan, Pelle, and I voted together on these and here are the two people we chose. We will contact the winners about their prizes.
Backer 1: Drood
Dead Rat Flail- 1D4 damage.
“Feed us…” it whispers.
If player agrees, roll 1D20.
Rolling 13 earns "The Rat King’s Blessing": a colony of 13 Rats with tails knotted together manifests inside the target’s belly and completely devours them.
On any roll besides 13 the Flail deals 1D8 damage for 1D4 rounds, but The Rat King must still be fed. The player wakes after their next rest missing 1D4 digits from their dominant hand.
Skull Flail- 1D6 damage.
1 in 10 chance of the Skull shattering and cursing the target to bloom as a "Skull Flower".
Now paralyzed, the target’s flesh, muscle and all, peels down from skull to collarbone in 5 “petals’’ as their spine elongates like a flower searching vainly for sunlight.
The target is trapped in living death until 1D4 weeks later when the spine and skull can be harvested as a new Skull Flail.
Backer 2: Joseph Pingo
Pustulant Rat Flail
The wielder of this weapon becomes cursed with large pulsating pus-filled boils erupting over their body (-2 to presence when trying to charm others)
On a successful hit this flail inflicts d6 dmg with d4 rats bursting from the wielder’s pus-filled boils. The rats attack the target for an additional 1 point of dmg per rat (biting).
The Servant of Nechrubel Flail
On a successful hit this flail inflicts d8 dmg. If the strike is a killing blow, the target's head is knocked from its body and replaces the previous skull on the flail. The headless corpse reanimates and becomes a servant to the flail’s wielder.
Headless corpse: HP 6, Morale 8, No Armour, claws d4 (Follows simple commands)
If the wielder does not strike a killing blow before the flesh decays from the flail’s skull (d2 weeks), their head falls from their shoulders and takes its place at the end of the flail (instant death)
